What is Powdery Mildew?
February 12, 2021Plants are constantly exposed to the elements. Rainfall, irrigation, and sunlight all play a part in diseases and how to control them. Common diseases like powdery mildew may not kill your plant but can stunt growth. Powdery mildew is a white, fine covering that can show up on leaves and stems. Infected areas can turn yellow or dark-colored, and dead foliage can slip off the stem. Mildew is brought about by high humidity, low light, and reduced movement of the surrounding air. Improving environmental conditions prevents the growth and spread of powdery mildew.
What happens if you leave powdery mildew untreated?
Powdery mildew will show up on the lower leaves, and if the white powdery fungus is not treated fast it will spread to the rest of the plant. When the leaves become severely covered with powdery mildew, the plants photosynthesis will slow down, leaving leaves yellow and to eventually die.
Natural preservatives are used to stop decomposition of the plant cell wall thus adding an active natural healing action to the plant not just a controlling action against microbes.

Rainfall, irrigation and sunlight all play a part in diseases and how to control them.
