Sierra Natural Science’s Organic Systemic Pest Control’s unique formula works by allowing the plant to uptake a small amount of rosemeric acid from the rosemary plant. As the plant distributes the rosemeric acid throughout its cell walls, a barrier is soon constructed that is harmless to the plant. When an insect starts to suck or chew on the plant it comes in contact with the rosemeric acid and causes the insect to stop eating and move on.

Sierra Natural Science worked with T&A to try to save the rest of their organic romaine from an aphid infestation. SNS drip irrigated 209 organic Pesticide 5 times from planting to week 12. It was added to the watering during drip irrigation as well for faster absorption and for prevention. T&A started foilar spraying to eliminate current aphids present.

T&A allowed the SNS team to constantly visit the field, and monitor insect and aphid activity throughout the planting cycle. This consistant treatment of 209 allowed it to stay within the plants system and fight off crop damaging insects continuously. Our main goal was to reduce or eliminate aphids and the field tested clean for aphids in addition to other damaging insects.

The volume of product used was high compared to other products used in this planting, but the cost for the material is a lot less than the other products.
